The curriculum for 7th grade is divided into Texas History for the first semester and Geography for the second semester. During the first semester, students will study Texas history from the early Native American societies through the eras of European mission-building and colonization, Mexican Texas, the Texas Revolution, the Republic of Texas, Texas statehood, the Civil War and Reconstruction, the late 19th century and the 20th century with emphasis on the people, events and issues that shaped each era. Students will also study the geography of Texas, its impact on history, and changes in Texas’ way of life. During the second semester, students will learn about the environment, places, people and culture as well as the relationship between people and the environment. The aim of this course is to help students see the kaleidoscope of diverse cultures and landscapes that make up this earth.
